GRADUATE WITH A DEGREE , AND WITH RESPECT
It’s not enough to walk out of school with a certificate in hand. The true mark of a graduate isn’t just the degree , it’s the character you carry along with it.
I remember when I went back to my school to collect my results. After completing all the clearance steps, I reached the final stage.
To my surprise, the staff member handling that section was someone from my department who had been transferred to Exams and Records.
I noticed several graduates waiting outside. She told them it was late and they’d have to return the next day. But when I approached her, I greeted her respectfully and spoke with courtesy.
She smiled, welcomed me, and said warmly, “My comrade, how are you, my baby?” She processed my result immediately.
The others were stunned. They asked how I managed to get through when they’d been waiting for hours. My response?
"Just because you’re done with school doesn’t mean you’re done with respect."
Many think that once they graduate, they no longer owe anyone politeness , especially non-teaching staff. But wisdom teaches us otherwise.
The way you speak to people, regardless of their position, matters. It can open doors you didn’t even know existed.
Respect isn’t a burden , it’s an asset.
Communication isn’t just about talking , it’s about connecting.
Graduate with your certificate, but more importantly, graduate with a reputation that speaks for you even when you’re not in the room.
