BREAKING NEWS: RUSSIAN VLADIMIR PUTIN HAS ISSUED A STERN WARNING TO THE WHITE HOUSE IN RESPONSE TO THEIR PROPOSED MILITARY WEAPONRY AID TO UKRAINE
Putin has cautioned with a stern warning to the White House, that any proposed decision to supply ‘Tomahawk long-range weaponry to Ukraine’, will destroy any positive talks and diplomatic ties with Washington.
Putin goes on to threaten in familiar fashion, that such a move would see ‘serious’ consequences and mark ‘further escalation’ in their war effort - and would see the halt of any positive developments recently seen in US- Russian Relations.
Positive developments? Not in regards to making peace in the Russian-Ukraine war. As Russia spurned all peace proposals put forwarded. Continuing to bombard Ukraine with brutal strikes and casualties.
Putin now ‘threatens’ such a move from the US would see a ‘damaging new level of confrontation’.
Will these latest threats from Russia to the White House see Trump phased at all and back down? Or hit back - as recently with Trump stating he sent previously lethal nuclear submarines to the Russian border, due to a Russian threat.
Does Putin now still have ‘enough cards to play’ to be in a position for such threats to deter? - or has now Ukraine been dealt with a full new deck with recent upscaled NATO military/aid involvement and now the US; towards Ukraine’s war effort regaining back their land and in preserving their Sovereignty. Are the tables slowly turning.
The Russian people say no – a major setback for Putin
The Kremlin has for a long time managed to recruit new soldiers for the battlefield in Ukraine through intensive propaganda and high salariesBut now the trend has reversed.
Since the beginning of the year, the Kremlin has not been able to offer soldiers as high salaries due to the country's failing economy. In addition, many Russians still use VPN services to bypass state propaganda about the war. Young and educated Russians in particular are therefore aware of the horrors of war, which affects their willingness to participate, reports Yle.
The people do not want to fight
eria Kovtun works for Open Minds – a Ukrainian company that examines Russian recruitment campaigns.
According to her, it is clear that Russia is having a much harder time recruiting new soldiers than before.
– This may be the answer to why they have brought in North Korean soldiers instead of just mobilizing people in Russia. They still see the recruitment problem as something they want to solve with money, Valeria Kovtun tells Yle.
Urges Europe to launch influence campaign
Open Minds CEO Sviatoslav Hnizdovskyi urges Europe to take advantage of the changing situation in Russia.
According to him, a door has opened. As Russian men become more concerned about the war and the grip of state propaganda over the population weakens, Europe has a good chance of influencing Russian views on the war.
Now both Hnizdovskyi and Kotun are urging European countries to launch influence campaigns aimed at Russia. According to experts, Europe must take the initiative to influence public opinion in the country.
It is still unclear whether the proposal will be heard.
– Hnizdovskyi has conveyed the message to those in power in Helsinki, Tallinn and Riga – but whether it will lead to action is still open
