President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Saturday held bilateral talks with Tanzania’s President H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan in Dar es Salaam, where the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation between Uganda and Tanzania in the areas of energy, trade, infrastructure, and regional peace and security.
The leaders reviewed progress on key joint projects, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), noting that the project is on course. They also discussed plans for gas and refined petroleum pipelines aimed at enhancing shared energy security and positioning Tanzania as a major export corridor for Uganda.
On trade facilitation, the two presidents agreed on measures to improve access to the ports of Dar es Salaam and Tanga, extend railway connectivity, and eliminate non-tariff barriers that continue to hinder cross-border trade.
Discussions also covered peace and security issues, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to joint efforts toward stability in the Great Lakes Region. President Museveni emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in addressing shared security challenges.
