03.MOUNTAINS AND HILLS
Rwanda is renowned for its stunning mountainous terrain, particularly the Virunga Mountain Range, which is home to the famous Volcanoes National Park. The park features five prominent volcanoes: Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Sabinyo, and Gahinga. Among these, Mount Karisimbi is the highest, standing at 4,507 meters, and is well-known for its breathtaking views and biodiversity, including the critically endangered mountain gorillas, which attract many tourists for tracking experiences.
Another significant range is the Congo-Nile Divide, which runs through western Rwanda and offers scenic landscapes, deep valleys, and fertile hillsides. The Nyungwe Forest National Park, situated in the southwestern part of the country, is also notable for its mountainous terrain, diverse ecosystems, and rich primate populations, including chimpanzees. Together, these mountains and national parks contribute to Rwanda's reputation as a premier destination for eco-tourism and adventure enthusiasts.
