#Warsaw: at #Kwibuka31 , we are joined by over 350 #FriendsofRwanda, incl . : Gov Officials, #MPs, CEOs, academics, #Ambassadors, #DAs & #Diplomats. Hon. MoS @MFAPoland, Anna #Radwan remarked the imperative of solidarity and collaboration w #Rwanda . Sen. Beata #Libera, Prof. #Zasada, Rector @SGGW , Ms Ola #Cholewa of #LuNASmelter & Fr #Urbaniak , #UmulinziwIguhango, delivered touching Messages of solidarity with #Rwanda-ns. On behalf of all of us, I thanked each & all of them.
Also thanked our RCA-PL who travelled from various parts of #Poland for this Day.
My adress at #Kwibuka31 focused on 03 points:
1. Root causes of the genocide against Tutsi in 1994 and the " cause a effet" relation btwn colonial legacy and the ideology that led to that genocide.;
2. The State of Affairs in the Region and persistent failures of the Intl Community to adequately respond to local peace imperatives: : " ..We [Rwanda] face Dark Past and Cruel Present..." ( HE President Paul KAGAME, at #Kwibuka31 on 07.04.2025 in Kigali ) .
3. A lesson I learnt while studying and working with other fellow #Rwandans to rebuild our Country: The POWER of Rwanda' s Resilience and Home Grown Solutions (HGS) is incredible!
In face of existential uncertainties, Rwandans ' Resilience made the Impossible, Possible. And in the aftermath, reconciliatory Home Grown #Gacaca paved the way for social cohesion and national unity. Since then, #HGS have become Rwanda's biggest ressources for socio-economic transformation.
Thanks to HGS, we have modernised our #Tourism and #Agriculture Sectors; we built our institutions and made them efficient.. And many more...
Hence, My plea to the International Community (IC), Global North and Global South alike: can the IC allow Rwanda to freely deploy its own Home Grown Solutions to address its own challenges and shape its future? Can Rwanda be allowed to use its own brain to innovate, and think big to engender economic prosperity? can we be allowed to cooperate with other willing nations, institutions and people in persuit of the betterment of our society? And finally, when we choose to be One- #Abanyarwanda, for obvious existential and long term security imperatives, can we be given hand, and if not, at least be left alone?
