🌱🚜 THE TRUE STORY OF BEGINNER FARMING 😂
When many people start farming, they imagine it like a simple recipe: put seed in the ground, wait a bit, harvest, and boom — money in the bank. But the reality? Farming will humble you faster than a bad haircut.
Most new farmers begin with excitement and big dreams. They see someone posting pictures of beautiful tomatoes online and think, “Ah! I can do this.” So they clear land, buy seed, and plant… without checking if the crop is right for their soil or climate. Weeks later, the plants are looking like they’ve just returned from a desert trip, and suddenly the dream starts looking expensive.
Then there’s the overconfidence. In their minds, the first harvest will buy a car, maybe even a small plot in the city. But farming has its own plans. Instead of millions, the profit might just be enough for gumboots and a wheelbarrow. And that’s if the pests haven’t hosted a free all-you-can-eat buffet on the crops.
Timing also catches many off guard. Some plant maize in September, convinced the rains will listen to their calendar. Others harvest too early, selling produce that tastes like it’s still thinking about growing.
And then comes the market shock. The crop is ready, but buyers are not. Now you’re stuck with baskets of produce that seem to ripen faster than customers appear. Before long, the “profit” turns into compost.
Farming isn’t about luck. It’s about planning, learning, and respecting nature’s timing. Start small, be patient, and remember — on the farm, nature is the boss, and you’re just the intern trying to keep up.
