Gasmeth Energy aims to reduce or remove environmental pollution using cleaner, greener gas displacing liquid or solid hydrocarbons. Developing and producing methane from Lake Kivu in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner. Distributing compressed natural gas (CNG) throughout the region.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific direct responsibilities:
Reporting performance and status of the items listed below.
Manage the Engineering part of the Project.
Interface with CNG Project Team.
Interface with Contractors and Third Parties as required.
Report to Project Director on issues and engineering status.
Engineering Leadership & Management:
Lead and manage the engineering team across all disciplines, ensuring efficiency.

Oversee the design development (Offshore/Offshore) and implementation of
CNG processing, storage, and loading systems.
Manage the interface with OSL in the review of documents and their comments.
Ensure compliance with international and local engineering standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols.
Review and approve technical designs, specifications, and engineering drawings.
Monitor and track the comments and return of contract documentation
Collaborate with procurement teams to evaluate and select equipment and materials.
Issue and answer TQs when required.
Assist in Execution workshops – HAZOP, HAZID, 3D MODEL, PSSR Reviews, etc.
Assist in the validation/assurance of systems and sub-systems during Turnover and Pre-commissioning.
Assist the Project Director in estimates and development/scoping of the non-EPC Scopes of Work.
Engage in discipline meetings and workshops with EPC Contractor when required.
Ensure all final Contractor and Vendor documentation is complete and updated to ‘As-Built’ status.
Ability to manage interfaces between engineering, construction, and operations teams.
Project Planning & Execution:
Develop, monitor, and manage the engineering scope, budget, and schedule for the project.
Coordinate with project management, construction, and operations teams to ensure alignment on deliverables.
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid project delays or cost overruns.
Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure quality and performance.
Assist in the review and updating of Project Schedules and progress updates.
Training:
Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to Rwandan team members.
Regulatory & Compliance:
Liaise with government authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure project approvals and compliance.
Implement best practices in environmental sustainability, safety, and quality control.
Conduct technical audits and ensure proper documentation for regulatory submissions.
Stakeholder & Team Coordination:
Act as the primary engineering point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Support the recruitment, training, and development of engineering personnel.
Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Qualifications & Experience:
Preferably a Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical/Process Engineering
10+ years of experience in engineering management, preferably in oil & gas, Downstream processing, LNG/CNG, or energy infrastructure projects.
Strong knowledge of CNG processing, storage, and transportation technologies.
Experience in remote or developing regions and working with multinational teams.
Proficiency in engineering software, project management tools, and industry codes/standards (e.g., API, ASME, NFPA, ISO).
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Understanding of gas extraction and methane recovery
Understanding of the Execution process and ability to manage interfaces between engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
Location
Permanently based in Kigali and will be required to travel to the construction site and overseas to Contractors and Vendors
Preferred Skills
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Check key documents for compliance with project format and scope.
Strong personality that is willing to question norms and offer alternatives and ideas
Work to tight timelines in a diligent fashion.
General computing skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. and
Develop spreadsheets and metrics tracking by graphical projections etc., for reports.
