GHANA TAKES A BOLD STAND AT THE UN
A Global Call for Justice, Reparations & Truth
Ghana 🇬🇭 is preparing to submit a powerful resolution at the United Nations on March 25, 2026, calling for the transatlantic slave trade to be officially recognized as one of the greatest crimes against humanity in history.
Leading this historic move is President John Mahama, who is also championing the African Union’s demand for reparations. The call is clear: former colonial powers must take responsibility and provide compensation for the deep harms caused by slavery and colonial rule.
Speaking on behalf of the President during talks with Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, explained that this effort is about more than words. It is about reparations, restitution, and real justice for Africans and people of African descent whose lives and futures were destroyed by slavery.
This moment places Ghana at the center of a global moral conversation—one that seeks truth, healing, and accountability.
With Ghana re-electing President John Mahama and now leading Africa’s fight for reparations, is this the beginning of Ghana’s rise as the true moral voice of Africa on the world stage—or will the world once again ignore Africa’s call for justice?
