Love and Size
When Amina married Kolo, the world seemed to shrink around them.
On their wedding day, people whispered in aweat the difference between them. Kolo was enormous, a man who filled doorways and cast long shadows. Amina, delicate and bright, looked like she had stepped out of a dream beside him. Photographs of them went viral. Beauty and the giant, people joked. Amina laughed then. She believed love didn’t measure itself in inches or weight.

The first year felt like a fairytale. Kolo was gentle, protective, endlessly devoted. He carried her when her feet hurt, shielded her from crowds, and spoke her name as if it were sacred. Amina felt chosen. Safe. Special.
But as time passed, the things that once felt romantic began to feel heavy.
Kolo’s size was everywhere in the way the bed creaked, the way rooms felt smaller, the way she always had to adjust. And slowly, quietly, disappointment crept in. Not because he didn’t love her, but because love wasn’t translating into closeness the way she had imagined.
She wanted passion. Confidence. A fire that matched the way he looked to the world.
Instead, she felt lonely even when he was right beside her.

One night, frustration spilled out.
“You’re so big in everything else,” she said bitterly, staring at the ceiling. “But when it comes to us… it’s like something is missing.”
Kolo didn’t speak at first. He turned his head away, the weight of her words pressing harder than anything he had ever lifted.
“I try,” he said quietly. “I’ve always tried.”
Amina sighed. She hated herself for saying it, but the regret was already there settled deep in her chest. She had married the idea of him, the spectacle, the safety. Not the reality of who they were together behind closed doors.
Love, she realized too late, isn’t just about size physical or emotional. It’s about compatibility, communication, and courage.
And now, they stood at a crossroads:
Either learn how to grow toward each other in ways that truly mattered…
Or accept that love alone was not always enough.
