📢 Call for Consultant: Documenting Survivor Voices – Stories of Resilience and Hope

Family Circle Love Lab Organization (FCLLO) is a local Non-Governmental organization working at the intersection of trauma healing, mental health, and gender justice. As part of our “VUGA UKIRE – Trauma Healing and resilience Hub, initiative, FCLLO is seeking a skilled consultant to document survivor voices—amplifying the personal stories of strength, transformation, and hope from women and girls who have experienced sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and received psychosocial support through FCLLO programs.
Objective of the Consultancy
To collect, curate, and produce compelling, ethical, and survivor-centered stories that document resilience, mental health recovery, and community healing. These stories will be used in FCLLO’s communications, advocacy, and fundraising materials to inspire action and social change.
Scope of Work & Deliverables
Data Collection (4 days)
Conduct interviews and participatory storytelling sessions with selected survivors (with prior informed consent and support of FCLLO psychosocial team).
Ensure trauma-informed and ethical approaches to all interactions.
Capture multimedia content (photos/audio/quotes, where appropriate).
Report Writing (2 days)
Draft a short narrative report summarizing key themes, survivor journeys, and the role of FCLLO’s psychosocial support.
Highlight the impact of trauma healing interventions and personal transformations.
Presentation & Feedback Integration (2 days)
Present findings and stories to FCLLO staff and leadership.
Integrate feedback and ensure alignment with FCLLO values and survivor dignity.
Article Production (3 days)
Produce 3–5 high-quality articles or storytelling pieces suitable for newsletters, blog posts, media publications, or donor communications.
Ensure content is anonymized, respectful, and impactful.
Expected Outputs
A curated story collection (written and visual if available) documenting the journeys of selected survivors.
One narrative summary report (3–5 pages) highlighting resilience themes and program impact.
3–5 edited articles ready for publication or advocacy.
A final presentation delivered to the FCLLO team with actionable recommendations.
Consultant Profile
Proven experience in storytelling, journalism, communications, or qualitative research in development or humanitarian contexts.
Background in psychosocial support, gender-based violence, or community mental health is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work with sensitivity, empathy, and confidentiality.
Strong writing skills in Kinyarwanda and either English or French.
Ability to ethically represent survivor voices and lived experiences.
Familiarity with multimedia production (basic photography or audio capture) is a plus.
Consultancy Fee
The consultant will be paid a competitive daily rate based on qualifications and experience, covering 11 working days:
4 days – data collection
2 days – report writing
1 day – presentation & feedback
1 day – feedback integration
3 days – article production
