Museveni, Samia Hold Bilateral Talks to Deepen Uganda–Tanzania Cooperation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Saturday held bilateral talks with Tanzania’s President H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan in Dar es Salaam, agreeing to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in energy, trade, infrastructure, and regional peace and security.

The leaders reviewed progress on key joint projects, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), which they noted is on course. They also discussed plans for gas and refined petroleum pipelines aimed at boosting shared energy security and positioning Tanzania as a major export corridor for Uganda.

On trade facilitation, the two presidents agreed on measures to improve access to the ports of Dar es Salaam and Tanga, extend railway connectivity, and eliminate non-tariff barriers that hinder cross-border trade.
