Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi concludes campaign rallies in Rujumbura with a call to retain National Resistance Movement - NRM governance
Hon. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, the Minister for Security and the NRM flag bearer for Rujumbura Constituency has concluded his campaign rallies with a compelling address to the electorate at Kasoroza Trading Centre in Nyakagyeme Sub County yesterday.
In his last rally address, Hon. Jim Muhwezi called on voters in Rujumbura and the wider Rukungiri district to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of electing leaders who align with the President’s governance philosophy. He warned that poor leadership choices could hinder development, noting, “Our country’s progress hinges on our voting decisions.”
Accompanied by his wife, Canon Susan Muhwezi Kabonero, the Minister articulated that opposition leadership often obstructs effective follow-up on crucial government programs. He specifically criticized the tenure of Hon. Fred Turyamuhweza, a member of the opposition PFF, stating that his opposition to government initiatives was a significant factor in his inability to establish new administrative units during his term from 2016 to 2021.
“The first major contribution of the NRM is peace,” Muhwezi emphasized, reminding the audience that Uganda now hosts millions of refugees from neighboring countries, a testament to the stability achieved under NRM leadership. He expressed concern over the potential for unrest during the elections and called on residents to maintain peace and respect the rule of law.
Muhwezi’s wife, Canon Susan, reinforced his message, urging citizens to rally behind President Museveni and support her husband as a means to ensure continued development in Rukungiri. “People vote for Jim because of his composure and empathy,” she expressed, highlighting her husband’s commitment to the community in the Rukungiri and the entire country.
